Well, surely, not everyone working for the paper is so naive. For instance, it seems the majority of the company's employees favor Leticia van de Putte over Dan Patrick for Lt. Governor. Now what does this mean exactly? In an editorial printed today, they try to provide an intelligent reason as to why the paper recommends Leticia. In reality, the paper is recommending Leticia because the majority who work for the paper vote Democratic. They vote Democratic as a team against anyone and anything having to do with the evil white man.
If I were the one writing this editorial, I would remind everyone first what the responsibilities of the position of the Lt. Governor are and what he or she is supposed to do. After all, the function of such a post is not so easy to understand. The position of Lt. Governor is one of five leading administrators in the executive branch of Texas Government. What do I mean by leading? Well, the Lt. Governor isn't under the authority of the four other leading executives. The other leading executives are 1) Governor, 2) Comptroller, 3) Land Commissioner, 4) and Attorney General. Imagine taking president Obama and slitting his responsibility into five separate but equal functions? That is what we have in Texas. The executive branch of Texas government is led by five separate but equal administrators.
But what reasons are given for The Dallas Morning News recommending Leticia over Dan? Well, according to them, as Leticia Van de Putte, a San Antonio Democrat, has been a steady legislative hand for two decades. Her opponent, Republican Sen. Dan Patrick, is potentially explosive, impact unclear.
Impact unclear concerning what exactly? Absolutely no discription of what the Lt. Governor actually does has been addressed in this editorial. Rather than provide a definition of what a Lt. Governor actually does, they provide the metaphor of a heater.
There are a couple of ways to keep your house warm this winter. You could choose the reliable heater you've known for years. Or you could keep gasoline and matches handy next to a fire pit you dig in the living room.
Most of us are going to pick the heater. The other choice seems … reckless. One has to chuckle at how the employees at The Dallas Morning News vote. Again, seems they decided to vote for the recommendation of Leticia because she isn't reckless. Notice here how The Dallas Morning News pokes fun of the insanity of Dan Patrick, the evil white man? Indeed, Dan Patrick once received therapy for the emotional problem of Depression. Do you see what is going on here? If Leticia looked like a hot-pink dandelion and tasted like a blue buffalo fart, the majority of the people employed at The Dallas Morning News would still vote for her.
Again, just what functions in Texas government does the Lt. Governor perform? According to Wiki, one is the Lt. Governor serves as the president of Congress. Wow, that sure was easy to look up. Should we not elect Dan Patrick as a Lt. Governor? Maybe. Should we vote for Leticia as Lt. Governor because she is a warm body, breathes, and isn't an evil crazy white man? I say no. Should we stop reading editorials written in The Dallas Morning News? Absolutely.
